Default End Game Question

Hi, I purchased the oringal GW when it was first released. I gave it a try and I didn't like it. I then moved on WoW, after 1 year of grinding, frustrated about guilds getting disbanded left and right, i quit.

I stopped playing MMORPG. I just play DOTA now. However, recently, i wanted to play Guildwar again, but I am concerning about the endgame contents of this game.

I know the real game begins when you hit the level cap.

#1.) Does GW offers alot of endgame equipments?
- I am not looking for uber strong equipments, but rather equipments that
offer different functions

#2.) By "Hunting for Skins," what does that mean?

#3.) Prestige Armor and Weapon????

#4.) If i say PVP in GW is similar to Dota (Warcraft 3 custom game), do you agree?

Thanks, I hope I will see you guys soon in game.

Look, the basic idea of GW is different from other MMORPGs.

Imagine in WoW constantly trying to get to the optimum level of efficiency, leveling up and getting gear. YOu spend months doing so, and during this period play through the game. Once you reach the peak, you only have special end game content to offer you a real challenge.

Gw avoids this. It lets you reach your greatest potential relatively quickly, lvl 20, in a few days. However, the whole game is then balanced for your maximum level. Anywhere you go, it's a challenge.

It is the same with items. You can easily find items that have the maximum stats, and you will find out that they don't really matter all that much. However, people still try to get rarer weapons that lood differently, to have something to do. However, those weapons are no more powerful than a normal cudgel bought off a merchant.

For example, someone in gray basic armor using a standard crafted axe will be no weaker than someone in a full set of Fissure of Woe armour with a chrystalline sword. However, anyone who knows the game will know the second guy is rich. Or, at least, has spent his money on getting the best looking gear.

#2 : later in the game, you'll be able to get strong skills called elite skills by killing specific bosses and using a signet of capture. Getting all elite of your profession is fun and allows to vary builds.

#3: prestige armors are highly expensive armors that provide normal stats, but a diffrent look..

I play alot of dota, and let me tell you guild wars end game is like end game dota when everyones got aegis raipier etc and you have to rely on pure skill rather than how much u spent on weapons, everyone is balanced i.e. theres a damage and armour cap on wepouns nad armour that vary per profesion. thats not to say there arnt uber weps, an uber wep in guild wars is an uber rare awesome looking weapon with same damaging capabilities as a wep which is a fraction of the price but realy common and ugly, this is how guild wars differs from dota i guess i.e. its more balanced. Hope im not ranting

PvP in guild wars is a very good unique system. It might very well be the best out there. It's more balanced than anything I've ever seen. I've been critical towards Izzy (Anet's lead skill balancer) in the past, but the latest skill change has kinda brought back my faith.
I guess PvP is the main end-game content. If you're not into that (but I think you are), you could play high level dungeons, like the DoA, UW, FoW, Urgoz and The Deep.

Information on professions, armor, weapons, skills, etc. can be found at our two wiki websites (the second listed is the official in-game accessible wiki, while in All Chat just type /wiki and a separate internet window will open)

http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Main_Page
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Main_Page

Guild Wars is not about "uber" anything, except your playing skill and, in most PvP, your team build and tactics.
